Sold their car to start business - Zrenjanin-based startup Fliiby achieves success after success

A good news came from the domestic world of startup companies two weeks ago - Zrenjanin-based startup Fliiby, owned by the Divjak brothers, is the first in Serbia to get the funds from Bulgarian accelerator LAUNCHub. It took Fliiby seven years to get from a file-sharing database on the web to a platform that allows creative people to publish and promote their original contents as well as make profit from this. Today, Fliiby (short for file library) has users all around the world, millions of visits, while about 1,800 content publishers - photographers, video editors, musicians and DJs, illustrators, designers, flash developers - earn money using this platform.

The option to monetize the content was introduced last August, at the same time when the new version of the website was launched. The web portal eKapija was curious as to which publishers can make profit using this site.

- When a user becomes a publisher, that is, when they are granted the 'partner' status, they have an option to monetize their content- Nemanja Divjak explains to eKapija. - The content then needs to be verified by the administrator before ads are added and the user starts making money out of it. At the end of every month, all users get complete statistics on their profits along with daily stats. Thirty day after the first monetized month, Fliiby will make a payment to the user's account, which can be a PayPal, Skrill or current account - Nemanja Divjak explains.

This means that the publisher gets money directly from advertisers, which is the same way all other file sharing platforms do business. However, what makes Fliiby different from other websites that enable you to earn money using them, such as Youtube, Vine, Instagram, is the fact that it is a hub for all sorts of copyrighting works - photos, images, drawings, music, video and audio recordings, documents, flash games, codes, and even complete software. Publishers who already have their content published on other platforms can use Fliiby as an additional source of revenue.


Vujadin Divjak tells us how Fliiby saw the light of day:

- Every beginning is not easy and funds are always necessary, so we made a decision to sell the car to set up Fliiby. Two months later we bought a new one. We realized it was an investment in something we believe in, so the existing risk was justified - Vujadin told our portal.

Aside from attracting LAUNCHub's investment, this platform also won the first place at Startit Fest last year as well as investments from two business angels. The Divjak brothers plan to continue to develop their website, expand their team and focus more on the promotion of both publishers' contents and platform itself.
