The surgery ward and intensive care ward have been opened today (May 24, 2007) at the Clinic for Pediatric Surgery of the Institute for Health Care of Mother and Child of Serbia "Dr Vukan Čupić". Total of 2.7m EUR from the credit approved by European Investment Bank have been invested in the reconstruction of these two wards.
The wards have been formally opened by the Minister of Health Tomica Milosavljević, the chief of the delegation of European Commission for Serbia Žozep Ljoveras, the chief of health care programs of European Agency for Reconstruction Matijas Rajnke and the Manager of the Institute Dragutin Tričković.
The reconstruction has been carried out in the scope of project "Urgent Reconstruction of 20 Hospitals in Serbia", of which total value is 50m EUR.
New surgery ward has four operating rooms, while surgical and cardio-surgical intensive care ward has 18 beds – said Tričković, adding that 2m EUR were invested in construction works, while 500,000 EUR were invested in medical equipment.
So far, large surface of useful space has already been reconstructed, the infrastructure rehabilitated, central supply of medical gases introduced, central air conditioning system installed and new medical equipment procured – he pointed out.
