Autumn magic of Slovenian Istra - Out of season, Portoroz becomes wellness and congress tourism oasis (PHOTO)

Citizen may say the city is “dead” when it is not the season but guests come here during the entire year. Portoroz is an ideal vacation destination during the summer and in the winter; one can truly enjoy wellness and spa centers. In the spring and in the fall, the worn becomes the congress tourism center.

Anarchic and the most romantic part of Slovenian Istra, 15 minutes’ walk from Portoroz, the Piran town, will conquer you with its charm of Italian suburbs, narrow streets and crowded houses. You will not be listless when it comes to the view over the sea, or boys playing football at the Tartini square where in the summer there are numerous festivals. At the central part of the medieval town, there is a monument to this Italian composer and typical Venetian house. There is a shop in it where a famous salt flower from nearby salt plants at Strunjani is sold. It is ideal for a resent or a souvenir.

The town had a number of galleries, 9 churches and during your stay, you can visit Nautical and Diving museum and aquarium.

The Tourist association of Pororoz says the entire city has some 12.000 beds, half of which in hotels. New Year’s bookings have almost been sold out.

- All capacities at the Histrion hotel are filled for New Year’s Eve, and Bernardin has a few vacancies available. If you want only dinner, it will cost EUR 150– the manager of the Bernardin hotel says for eKapija.

Last year, Portoroz had more than 6.000 arrivals from Serbia and 22.000 of overnight stays which is 2% of all guests. Apart from Slovenians, the largest number of visitors comes from Austria, Italy and Geramny.

- Serbian guests mainly come for the vicinity of Italy: Trieste and Venice and because we in Portoroz have rich entertaining program within which Serbian stars such as Bregovic and Bajaga –Iva Petrovijevic from the Histrion hotel, a part of Bernardin group.

- In the winter period, guests find a big Laguna aqua park at our hotel inetersting, rich kids’program and congress center at Bernardin works excellently over the fall.

The biggest congress hall in Slovenia, Europa hall which can host 1100 guests, was hosting a two-day conference of media trends, Sample, last weekend. This hotel group has 17 conference halls where it is possible to organize events for 2.600 people.

The offer comprises wellness centers, spa programs and swimming pools with sea water.

During late November and in December, you will not encounter many people in the streets in the evening hours in Portoroz but fun will not lack. The first gambling place was opened here more than a century ago and today you can try your luck at casinos Portoroz Riveras and Bernardin.

On somewhat more than42 km from Slovenian coast and there is a plenty of things to see. There are tourist attractions in the vicinty atrakcije: Postojsnka jama, Skocjanske jame, Lipica, Bled lake, Ljubljana is a one hour ride, Trieste only 33 km, Venice 125.

Portoroz is mentioned for the first time in XII century and for more than a hundred years it is the most important tourist center of Slovenian Istra. While in Serbia, weather forecast is announcing snow and icy rain, according to weather forecast, by the end of the year temperature in Portoroz will not go below 5 degrees and a number of sunny hours have been announced. Bathed in the Mediterranean sun, average January temperature of this part of the Adriatic totals 4,4 degrees.
