Nikola Tesla Airport expects EUR 50 m generated through cargo transport
A few big European and Russian companies as well as Arabian Etihad, are seriously interested in partnership with the Nikola Tesla airport since Belgrade-based company is expecting the profit growth of EUR 50 m annually only from freight transport which due to Croatia’s joining to EU is moving to Belgrade, Kurir finds out.
Although the Government of Serbia has not defined the way to introduce foreign capital into airport, the investors’ interest increased additionally due to passengers’ number increase in Belgrade-based airport, the source of Kurir claims.
- Many companies from different meridians expressed their interest in the airport, through sale of minority or majority stake or concession. Etihad showed the biggest interest as well as some Russian and European companies which think they would have ROI soon. They set their estimations on cargo traffic profits – a collocutor of Kurir says.
He warns that after becoming a member, Croatia must fully comply with EU laws including the Law on air traffic which is very rigorous in the sense of the protection of population from noise and pollution.
He adds that the French company Vinci airport, with which the memorandum of cooperation with respect to development of the Nikola Tesla airport was signed, also outlined the profitability aspect.
Dejan Popovic, president of the Independent Trade Union of the airport, expects cargo profit increase.
