Carlsberg takes over Greek Olympic Brewery
Danish brewery, Carlsberg, announced today that it will take over the third biggest brewery in Greece, Olympic Brewery, aiming at increasing its market share there and to generate the second biggest player at the Greek beer market.
After takeover of Greek brewery, joint company will have a share of 29 % which will list it immediately after the
Dutch competitor, Heineken which has 55%
of Greek beer market, Reuters reports.
Financial contract details were not published but it is known that Carlsberg in
a joint venture will have 51% stake, while the remaining 49% will stay in the
ownership of Olympic Brewery current shareholders .
With the annual gross sales of 139 million hectoliters of beer , Carlsberg is the fourth biggest brewery in the world while Olympic Brewery produces 550.000 hectoliters per year.
