- In the border municipality of Nova Crnja, 1,700 unemployed workers expressed wish to work in Žombolj in Romania, which currently has about 2,000 vacancies – said the Manager of the Office of the National Employment Bureau in Zrenjanin, Tatjana Mijatović.

While Žombolj, a Romanian small town that is 3 – 4 km away from the border, has no unemployed workers, the small and undeveloped Serbian border municipality of Nova Crnja has about 3,000 workers without job.

The employers in Žombolj are in demand for workers of all profiles and they offer monthly wage in amount of 200 - 500 EUR, hot meal and daily transportation by bus, Mijatović explains and adds that the foreign employers had 14 factories built in the industrial zone in Žombolj and that there are not enough Romanian workers to fill all the vacancies.

- There is a great demand for our workers. Following the signing of the agreement between the National Employment Bureau of Serbia and Romanian Employment Agency, the legal preconditions have been created for work in the neighboring country. What is left is to be decided who pays the insurance in case of accident at work – employer or our country? Having that settled, the first buses with workers will leave Nova Crnja and depart for Žombolj – Mijatović announces.
