New border crossing towards Romania to open in November
In the period November 8-12, as it was announced, three border crossings in Banat with Romania will open permanently. With the status of the third category international border crossings, the ones which will open permanently are Nakovo – Lunga, Vrbica – Valkanj and Jasa Tomic – Fenj.
These days, the works on infrastructure equipping of the Nakovo-Lunga BC have been intensified so that everything would be ready until the announced opening date.
Officially, the Romanian party required that three border crossings in Banat, Nakovo – Lunga, Vrbica – Valkanj and Jasa Tomic – Fenj open at the same time. Judging by announcements, EC will soon make a decision those international border crossings, at the airports in Romania, list into Schengen visa – free system. This means that equipping and opening of other BCs will be more complex. Border crossings opening is a condition to use IPA program funds.
Official moves of Serbian authorities are expected now to make it all work.
In the next ten days, the works on infrastructure equipping of Nakovo-Lunga border crossing, totaling some RSD 21 m, should end. Putevi Srbije set aside RSD 15 m, Telekom Srbija RSD 1,5 m and Kikinda’s local self-governance provided four million dinars. Permanent border crossing opening in Kikinda municipality is of extreme importance.
Citizens of Kikinda municipality hope that the border crossing only nine kilometers from oman ia and EU will finally start functioning. For sub-border area and Kikinda municipality, permanent border crossing is of extreme importance..
