Messer Tehnogas in Pancevo opens helium bottling plant - Investment worth EUR 5 m
Yesterday in Pancevo, Messer Tehnogas opened a new helium bottling plant where it invested EUR 5 m.
Opening the facility, in the presence of a large number of business partners, Ernst Bode, Vice President at Messer Group for SEE and the Executive Manager at Messer Tehnogas said the company this way circled its production program of helium and grouped itself among the leading gas companies.
Helium is mainly used in hospitals in magnetic resonance systems and for systems mostly used in scientific and research institutions for spectroscopic substance content determination, in researches of physics of solid condition at low temperatures.
Milica Grkovic, head of sale of special gasses and additional equipment at Messer Tehnogas, says the world crisis in helium supplying which started in 2011 and culminated in late 2012 played a big part in decision on the investment. In early July this year the facility underwent the trial work.
Messer has three centers for helium bottling and delivery – in France, Switzerland and Austria. It is interesting that Messer in Switzerland supplies CERN, while Austria supplies Middle and SE Europe. Based on the needs in the country and the region as well as projected capacity, it was planned that 20% of production is launched in Serbia and 80% will be exported to: Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Greece, Macedonia, Albania, Montenegro, the Republic of Srpska and the Federation.
