First kilometer of North Ring Road around Kragujevac being paved

On the first 5.5 kilometers, from the Petrovac interchange to the Jovanovac interchange, the paving of the first kilometer of the North Ring Road has begun, and due to the fitting in of the interchange itself, the section will be operational from mid-2025, stated the minister of transport, construction and infrastructure of Serbia, Goran Vesic, who visited the site together with the mayor of Kragujevac, Nikola Dasic, in the presence of Zoran Drobnjak, the director of the PE Roads of Serbia.

Vesic said that the plan was to put the first 11 kilometers all the way to the Topola interchange into operation by the end of 2025, which would be important for the people coming from that part of Sumadija too. This will put a half of the North Ring Road, which has a total length of 22 kilometers, into operation.

– This section is especially important for Kragujevac, because the industrial zone is located on the first 5.5 kilometers, and that will enable the arrival of new investors – said Vesic, as reported on the City’s website.

That the works are being done very fast on the North Ring Road has also been confirmed by the mayor of Kragujevac, Nikola Dasic.

– This is a strategically important road which, on one side, connects us with the Belgrade-Nis highway, and on the other, connects us to the Morava Corridor and all other important traffic routes. Reducing the heavy traffic in the city is another important aspect of this investment project, but an important one, because it opens many other locations in the city for us, which Kragujevac will develop in a different way. This is the biggest capital project, I believe, not just in the financial sense, but also the strategical one – said Dasic.
