Commercial Agreement on Designing and Execution of Works on Construction of Bypass Route Around Novi Sad with Bridge on the Danube Signed

The commercial agreement on the designing and the execution of the works on the construction of the bypass route around Novi Sad with a bridge on the Danube on the IIA-grade state road no. 111 was signed in the presence of the prime minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabic, and the mayor of Novi Sad, Milos Vucevic.

The agreement was signed by the minister of construction, transport and infrastructure of Serbia, Tomislav Momirovic, the acting director of the PE Corridors of Serbia, Aleksandar Antic, and the vice president of China Road and Bridge Corporation, Zhang Xiaoyuan.

– The city authorities included this bridge in the urban plans way back in 1963, and the first mention of it dates back further than the Freedom Bridge, except that the conditions had not met for it at the time. The western bypass route with a bridge will reduce the pressure on the existing bridges and Oslobodjenja Blvd, which will create incomparably better conditions for citizens’ lives. Our state is financing this project with EUR 175,500,000 – pointed out Vucevic, as reported on the website of the City of Novi Sad.

The prime minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabic, estimated that the infrastructural backbone of the future Serbia was clearly visible, that it was apparent which highways, fast routes and railways comprised it and that the bypass route around Novi Sad and the new bridge were parts of that backbone.

– We are currently building 10 highways, and the plan is to build 650 km of highways and fast routes by the end of the next mandate – emphasized Brnabic.

According to Aleksandar Antic, this is a very complex project which entails a bridge structure 2,400 meters long, of which 800 meters are above the river surface, whereas the rest pertains to access routes.

– Parallel roads, 650 meters long in total, are also to be built, and they will enable the organization of the traffic. Main roads of 600 meters, a big roundabout which will act as a connection to the state road and a route which will connect Novi Sad with the Fruska Gora Corridor are also to be built – Antic explained.
