EUR 25 million for Serbian companies – Favorable loans by European Investment Fund and ProCredit Bank

The European Investment Fund (EIF) and ProCredit Group have signed a new agreement on cooperation, which will provide small and medium enterprises in the Western Balkans countries with a far easier and more favorable access to finance.

This has been enabled through the Western Balkans Guarantee Facility, financed by the European Union, that is, through the Western Balkans Enterprise Development and Innovation Facility.

Thanks to this agreement on cooperation, in the next two years, the Guarantee Facility will be guaranteeing for ProCredit Bank Serbia all loans approved to businessmen in the total amount of EUR 25 million, which will enable the bank to approve loans to SMEs in the country under considerably more favorable conditions. EIF has signed similar agreements with ProCredit banks in Kosovo and Metohija and Macedonia as well, with the guarantee fund amounting to an additional EUR 45 million.

Commenting on the agreement, as well as EIF guarantees, Guarantees, Securitisation & Microfinance Manager Alessandro Tappi expressed his satisfaction with the continued cooperation with ProCredit Group and added that the guarantee scheme would enhance the access to sources of finance for numerous SMEs in the region, which could contribute to the creation of new jobs and an improvement of the economic growth.

Borislav Kostadinov, member of the Managing Board of ProCredit Holding, said that the agreement on cooperation was very important for ProCredit Group and that, thanks to it, the banks within the group would continue to enhance the support and the services they provide for SMEs in all the countries they operate in.

President of the Executive Board of ProCredit Bank Serbia Svetlana Tolmaceva Dingarac pointed out that ProCredit Bank would continue contributing to the economic integration and a balanced economic development of Serbia, by providing to its clients the support in line with the current trends and their business needs.

– The agreement on cooperation with EIR will enable enterprises in Serbia to concentrate on investments and long-term plans, which is of great importance, since those projects contribute to the economic development and the creation of new jobs – Tolmaceva emphasized.
