"SRBIJAVODE" Water Authority was founded, in accordance with The Law on Water Regulation, in 1977 by merging three water authorities, namely: "Dunav", "Sava", and "Morava", the basic activities of which are water management, exploitation of waters, water conservation and protection from waters. The Law on Water Regulations (Official booklet of the Republic of Serbia 46/91) and its changes and amendments (Official booklet of the Republic of Serbia 73/91, 80/91, 53/93, 48/94 and 54/96) clearly define that the activities in the area of water management. This refers to both, surface and ground waters, including potable, thermal and mineral water, too.
"Srbijavode Water Authority" carries out immediate jobs on the spot, according to the contract, by 50 water authorities, employing around 4000 workers, organized on the territorial principle, mostly. Unique norms, plans and regulations clearly define the activities of these water authorities in flood control, drainage, provision of waters for multiple purposes and consumers and implementation of anti-pollution protective measures.
According to The Law on Water Regulation of the Republic of Serbia, three water regions have been established: the river Danube water region, the river Sava water region and the river Morava water region.
