Research has shown that people most often choose dogs in line with their own personal characteristics. One study says that most of us will pick the dog most similar to us.

People with long hair, for example, often pick breeds with long ears. The most sociable among us choose bulldogs and hunting dogs, whereas imaginative people prefer small dogs, such as poodles and Italian hounds.

Of course, maybe it's best to choose the breed of dog according to one's hobby or lifestyle. Dobermanns and Australian shepherds are good for people who love spending times in nature.

If your are prone to fits of bad mood or depression, a pug or a Shiba Inu might help cheer you up.

In case you have sleeping problems, you might want to get a dog that likes to snuggle, such as a hound or a shepherd.

Some dogs are better around children, such as beagles and boxers.
