The Third Autumn Theatre Festival of the director Emir Kusturica , supported by NIS and organized by Rasta International will take place on November 2nd and 3rd in Mecavnik.

The slogan for this years festival will be “Kustendorf in Theatre” which is a result of desire to explore the boundaries between theatre and film and asking whether the boundaries actually exist. But that is not the only reason behind the slogan. This, the student competition programme goes international same as its big brother Kustendorf, and it will continue in the same manner in the years to come.

Mecavnik will also host the ensemble of Sombor National Theatre who will perform If Sombor Was Hollywood which was done as a silent movie as well as the National Theatre in Belgrade and their play Black Box inspired by the huge Italian film hit Perfect Strangers.

Emir Kusturica, the founder of the Festival, will hold a workshop on film and theatre, since he had a successful career in both. The competition programme will feature four performances, three from Serbian academies and one from Russia who are competing for the Golden Leaf award.

Yaroslavl State Theatre Institute from Russia will perform Elephant by Aleksandr Kopkov, Academy of Arts from Belgrade will perform Who the Fuck Started All This by Dejan Dukovski, the Faculty of Dramatic Arts from Belgrade will perform How Much Is Your Iron by Bertolt Brecht while the Academy of Arts from Novi Sad will perform Samuel Beckett's cult play Waiting for Godot.

Award-winning director Milan Neskovic was chosen as the festival's selector. Neskovic directed many successful plays in the most renowned theatres in Serbia and further, states official press release from NIS.

NIS has been the general sponsor of the Autumn Theatre Festival for the third year in a row. Supporting projects in the fields of culture, science and education, with a particular emphasis on developing young talents, is one of NIS’s strategic objectives fulfilled under the slogan Future at Work.
