(Lunar surface/Illustration) The original photographs made by NASA astronauts at the peak of the lunar research period have been auctioned.

Astronaut John Glenn was the first man to take a photograph of the Earth from space, whereas Neil Armstrong took the first photograph from the surface of the Moon.

Original photos made by Glenn and Armstrong are a part of the collection of 445 rare photos which have been auctioned by the Skinner auction house in Massachusetts.

As they say, the auction named “The Beauty of Space” is the first American auction in which only old NASA photographs from the peak lunar research period, from 1961 till 1971, are being sold.

The auction started on October 12 and will last until November 2.
