After seven-day mini vacation, whole pile of unorganized papers, new mails, started works and those postponed for the period "after the holidays" waited for me. It is the real time for several tricks from the art of time management. "The greatest mistake made by people at work lies in the fact that they do not realize how much time they waste. We can not influence the time that passes, but we can do something with ourselves. We can organize the things we do according to the time we have" - says time management consultant and lecturer Peggy Duncan. Disorganization, lousy planned aims, to many private calls, lack of routine, useless e-mails, aimless web surfing will spend your time in no time. Work with little effect makes you lose your focus. And that's how the stress begins.

"One of my older clients let the envelopes, which he had to process, accumulate for days. Every time his assistant added several more envelopes to already formed pile, he would become more and more nervous. The same feeling had the assistant who could not receive the information he needed. This problem we solved by means of improvised folders. The letters and the materials on the table were organized according to priority and importance. Every morning, assistant and director would set aside 20 minutes for mail browsing. In this way, we changed the process and established a routine. The problem of the second client lied in the fact that he was always late for work. The first thing we had to do was to establish the reason for his lateness. I discover that that person never make plans for anything before the sleep, as well as that his wardrobe in the bedroom was unorganized. For this client the morning dressing up was a nightmare. If people would just pay attention to the things that take most of their time, they would be able to organize their lives with just a few minor corrections.

It is really simple, but little time has to be spent" – says Duncan. She says that the most often question of the employees is: "How to organize my time if it does not depend on me, but on boss who always changes schedule, plans and gives new tasks when there is no time for them to be carried out?" That is really hard task. You should first try to keep your personal system fit. The more organized and efficient you are, the easier will be for you to deal with those who aren't. Remember that your boss probably suffers from the same things as you do. Maybe he had some problems with his son, or he did not manage to arrive at time for some match that was important to him. At the next meeting you should try to find out in which way would your boss use the free time he has. In order to make it possible for both you and your boss to have that extra free time, start to practice basic rules of modern time management together.
