Governor Radovan Jelašić announced that the central bank planned to raise limit for the amount of foreign currency that can be brought out of the country from 2,000 to 5,000 EUR in July 2006.

He announced that, after the expected passing of new Law on foreign currency operations, the determination of quotes for the amount of foreign currency that can be brought out of the country, without certificate, would be under jurisdiction of the National Bank of Serbia.

Pointing out that he considers it justified, the Governor said that the foreign currency reserves of the country were at the high level and that the number of debit cards, which could be used for payment of goods and services abroad, were constantly growing.
