A group of Serbian businessmen that is being mentioned as a potential buyer of Jat Airways is led by Delta's owner Miroslav Miskovic, Blic daily learns.
He will be the carrier of that project, which was the topic of a discussion between Miskovic and the Serbian government two weeks ago, and it is a matter of days when the authorities will also meet with Miodrag Kostic of MK Group, Miroslav Bogicevic, owner of Farmakom, and Goran Percevic, owner of Interkomerc, which are all part of this group.
A well-informed source that participates in these negotiations claims to Blic that Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic will soon schedule a joint meeting as well. The government's plan is to keep a 50-percent stake in the flag carrier in the possession of the state and to leave the other half to be run by businessmen.
- The state would not invest a dinar. The government would provide infrastructure and businessmen would provide money. The most important thing now is to renew the fleet - says Blic's interlocutor.
Miskovic would invest the most in the acquisition of Jat and, thus, become the project carrier.
- MK Group is now only considering the possibility of joining aforementioned consortium - people at the company ran by Miodrag Kostic told Blic.
Blic did not get an official response from people at Delta, but their source claims that this company is interested in acquiring Jat. Goran Percevic was also not available for comment.
Miroslav Bogicevic says to Blic that he has not received an official offer yet, adding he would gladly help Jat stand on its feet.
Minister Milutin Mrkonjic confirmed that negotiations were underway with businessmen with whom the state intended to form a new Serbian airline.
