Spain's Spanair airline has ceased its operations and canceled all flights, leaving over 22,000 passengers, including those from Serbia, stranded in Europe and Africa. As the company announced, all passengers from Serbia who have already bought a ticket to Barcelona will be refunded, and they are advised to contact Spanair's office in Serbia for additional information.
Spanair said it was finalizing an agreement with IATA to refund passengers holding Spanair tickets.
“This agreement will let the travel agencies refund the complete price to those passengers that paid the ticket in a travel agency by bank transfer or cash,” a statement on the airline’s website said.
“All other passengers who bought their tickets by credit card directly at spanair.com, or in a travel agency, will need to enquire for refund options with their card issuer," the airline said.
People at the authorized branch office of Spanair in Serbia, iTravel Group, were unable to give any official information and directed the passengers to the website www.spanair.com.
- The number of passengers in Serbia who have already bought a ticket is negligible. There have not been many bookings because flights in the period between January 14th and March 3rd were already canceled due to regular maintenance of airplanes - said people at iTravel Group.
