Tonight, late at night, another convoy
with the remaining equipment of Trebević cable car system is arriving. The convoy, consisting of 18 trucks
which contain parts of a dismantled cable car system, left Graechen,
Switzerland on Monday morning.
The Swiss Ambassador to BiH HE Andre
Schaller informed the Mayor of Sarajevo Alija Behmen about the occasion at
today's meeting of the City Administration representatives of the City, the
Agency SRRA and the Swiss Embassy in BiH.
Transport of cable car parts from
Graechen takes place with the help of Swiss army, and when the convoy arrives
parts of the cable car will be stored in the EUFOR base in Butmir. The first convoy arrived in Sarajevo
on 15th November.
"Although it was planned to transport the extensive dismantled
car cable equipment from Switzerland to Sarajevo in four convoys it was decided
to take advantage of weather conditions without heavy snowfall and to transport
all the equipment in two slightly larger convoys," said the Swiss Ambassador at the
meeting.
The Ambassador also added that among the
Swiss public there is great interest about the donation to Sarajevo as
witnessed by two Swiss televisions accompanying the second convoy, they intend
to prepare a report and a documentary about the revitalization of the Trebević car cable system.
Mayor Behmen used this opportunity to thank
the Swiss confederation for this significant donation on behalf of the City and
the citizens of Sarajevo and all other partners who have decided to support
this project, primarily the European Commission Delegation in BiH."These words of gratitude I will also convey
to your media when they arrive in Sarajevo," the Mayor added at the
end.
Works on the reconstruction and
construction of the cable car system should be launched mid next year, and their
completion and putting the cable car system into operation in 2013.
