Mitas in Ruma plans to boost the export of tires for agricultural machines to Russia as of 2012. For the needs of the production expansion, the Czech company is going to hire 46 workers, for which it has received a RSD 6 million incentive from the Vojvodina government.
A new line for the production of tires for the Russian market will be installed in the old production hall. New presses and machines are procured for that purpose, and their installation will be finished until the end of January, so that the trial production could start in February, whereas the first tires from this line are expected to be shipped to Russia as early as in April.
As Director of the Ruma-based factory said yesterday, a total of EUR 3.5 million have been invested in the new production line.
The factory's annual production currently amounts to 300,000 tires or 15,500 tonnes of tires, and the reported annual income exceeds EUR 30 million. The factory in Ruma has so far employed about 540 workers.
- Mitas' product portfolio in Ruma is intended for the markets of Europe and the USA to which we export 90% of the production. We want to boost our export to Russia, which currently accounts for only 1% of all exports, which is why we are now preparing to adapt part of the portfolio to the Russian market – people at Mitas told eKapija.
People at this company confirmed to us that they were preparing the ground to open a new production plant. As it was announced earlier, with the new plant worth EUR 14 million, the production would be increased to 450,000 pcs, and a job would be given to 200 people.
Czech's Mitas, Europe's leading producer of tires for agricultural and construction machines, acquired the former factory Rumaguma from the U.S. tire manufacturer Galaxy.
