Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac said on Thursday (August 25, 2011.)
in Kraljevo that civilian airport "Morava", which is built on part of the
military airport in Ladjevci, will be ready for a promotional
flight in October, and from the spring next year for regular traffic as well.
Sutanovac visited the works at that airport, where the
construction works on the terminal building, control tower, techno economical block are in their final stage, as well as works on arranging the runway.
- This is the first phase of construction of civil airports "Morava",
and the next year second phase will also begin, after which the airport will become a modern airport for international flights - said
the minister.
He
stated that the total value of investment is EUR 32 million, and that a
partner in this business is Turkey, which will invest EUR 10 million.
- Ministry of Defense of Serbia will invest 12
million euros in the next two years, Air Traffic Services Agency of Serbia and Montenegro 3.5
million, two million other ministries, and the Belgrade Airport 2
million euros, through equipment and services - explained the minister.
He said the airport in Ladjevci is the biggest infrastructure facilities site of the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of the Army of Serbia in the last few
decades.
Speaking to reporters, CEO of Air Traffic Control Agency of Serbia and
Montenegro Nikola Stankov said that they are investing in modern
equipment that is currently available on the world market.
- The total investment of EUR 2.1 million will be spent on construction of buildings for air traffic control. It will fully satisfy the legal requirements for a good working environment. We will buy the latest equipment and systems worth 1.5 million euros.
As for the air traffic controllers, airport "Morava" is now open for
the Army and has a fully worked out organizational structure and we
provide flying. Admission and recruitment of new people in the control of air traffic has its established flow.
Currently we are looking for about 25 electrical engineers and transport
professionals and 15 technicians with experience - Stankov said.
Velimir Radosavljevic, director of the airport "Nikola Tesla", said
that after the first phase of works there will be about 50 new jobs, and after
the second phase additional 150.
