(Leskovac)

The city of peppers or "Serbian Manchester", as Leskovac is popularly called, is ready for all types of investments. As eKapija learns from the representatives of the Local Economic Development Agency, that city offers several "brownfield" and "greenfield" locations completely equipped with infrastructure.

- Leskovac-based companies in bankruptcy may be interesting to those who decide for "brownfield" investments - says Jelena Zivković, the Project Assistant for Investments in the Local Economic Development Agency.

Public company Sintetika, situated within Zele Veljkovic complex in the southern part of the city, is one of them. At the offered surface area of 21,186 square meters, 8,624 square meters are occupied by facilities. It is a completely equipped land that even has air compressors. This location also has building and use permits.

The offer in that part of the city also includes a certain part of private company Zdravlje Acativis, of which facilities occupy 41,519 square meters of the land whose gross surface is 212,182 square meters. The facility is intended for chemical industry.

In the eastern industrial zone, potential investor are offered the facilities of Tekstil Promet company and Proleter complex. The liquidation value of Tekstil Promet (of which facilities occupy 7,920 square meters of the land at 9,000 square meters) is EUR 803,105.

As Zivkovic points out for eKapija, the offered Proleter complex is intended for metallurgy, production of panels and sheet metal.

Resort complex, situated in Block 58, will also go on the auction block soon. The facility that occupies a total of 15,836 square meters comprises a weaving mill, production hall with a spinning mill and a dyehouse, six warehouses, a garage, an auxiliary building, workshops, a laboratory and electrical workshop, a boiler room, compressor and transformer stations, offices in the administrative building, a dispensary, etc.

"Greenfield" investments

The citizens of Leskovac have presented New Strategic Zone 2 in the eastern industrial zone as suitable for "greenfield" investments.

- We are going to drill trial holes in that part of the zone and we have already obtained the funds in amount of 1 million euros from the Government of Serbia for that purpose. If thermal waters are found at a larger depth, that location will be used for the construction of a wellness and spa center, all that with the aim of developing tourism - Jelena Zivkovic says for our portal.

New Strategic Zone 2 occupies the surface of 162,600 square meters and it is situated alongside M1 regional road. The nearest railway station and airport are 1.5 km and 45 km away from the location, respectively.

Since the region of Leskovac is famous for the production of vegetables, one of the strategic decisions aimed at developing the city economy has been the formation of the Storage and Distribution Center on the land of about 100 ha, which has been allotted to the city by the Government of Serbia.

As Mayor Slobodan Kocic announced earlier, that location is planned to become the biggest fruits and vegetables market, not only in Leskovac, but also in the whole south of Serbia. Complete infrastructure equipping of the Center should be finished until March 2011.
