(Dusan Bajatovic)
Srbijagas CEO Dusan Bajatovic says that, at this moment, talks are underway in several ministries about whether the increase in price of gas should be allowed. He explains that, due to difficulty of the situation in Serbia, that decision has not only economic, but also social and political dimension.
- Srbijagas' request is ready and may be submitted any moment, but we are not going to do that unless we know that the price increase will happen - says Bajatovic.
He points out that, according to the calculations, gas price should be increased by 18.2%, emphasizing that that percentage has been determined in association with the Energy Agency.
- Srbijagas can not make its own decisions. The price of gas is regulated and that decision depends on the Energy Agency, which confirms the math, and the government either agrees or not after receiving the proposal from the competent ministry - Bajatovic explains.
He states that the price increase at this moment is not only a result of the increase in price of gas in the global market, but mainly a consequence of the significant growth of Euro's value and even bigger increase in the value of Dollar in the previous period.
Bajatovic also points out that, if the gas price is not increased, the losses that Srbijagas will make by the end of the heating season will amount to 150
million euros, only on the basis of inadequate price of gas, "so that the question arises: who will pay that difference in the price if there is no for gas price increase".
