Monbat PLC ceremoniously opened the factory for processing old lead batteries and production of lead alloys in Indjija today. The factory was opened by Atanas Bobokov, the Chairman of the Managing Board of mother company Monbat AD from Sofia, and Bojan Pajtic, the Chairman of the Executive Council of Vojvodina.
So far, over EUR 12m have been invested in the project, and the commencement of trial production is scheduled for September 2010. The factory will employ 70 people and, for the first time in Serbia, an organized system for collecting, keeping and processing old lead batteries will be applied. The technology that will be used represents the state-of-the-arts system in this field of non-ferrous metallurgy. In addition to Monbat PLC, only 11 factories in Europe use similar concept, which implies the use of a closed type of recycling system - no technological water is released. This concept has never been used in this part of Europe, and it should contribute to improvement of ecological conditions.
In order to enable undisturbed trial work, Monbat has fulfilled all the necessary legal obligations set by relevant government organs. All those interested can take a look at the License for waste management on the official web presentation: www.monbat.co.rs

- We take pride in being able to ceremoniously open this facility today, in which we have, so far, invested over 12 million euros. With the wish to provide conditions for better quality of life to our local community, we are going to employ mainly people from Indjija in the new factory. Since the care of environment is one of our imperatives, we have invested in up-to-date machines of the latest generation and, thus, became pioneers in that field in this part of Europe. With the idea to move the boundaries and raise the standards, we want to return Serbia to global trends, and we hope to motivate other companies to follow our steps and invest in business progress and the progress of their communities - said Milan Petrovic, the Director of Monbat PLC in Indjija.
Let us remind that, after four years of existence in Serbia, the company got the license in July 2010 for putting in one-year trial operation the Factory for processing old lead batteries and production of lead alloys. The license was issued by the Provincial Secretariat for Architecture, Urbanism and Construction on July 27, 2010.
At the order of the Ministry of Environment of 2008, Monbat PLC was obliged to repeat the procedure for obtaining consent for the Study on influence on environment. The result of this activity is the new Decision of the Provincial Secretariat for Environment Protection of 9 December 2009 and the second consent for the Study on influence on environment. Consequently, the company has also acquired other necessary permits and licenses.
