Construction of medical complex Kamenica 2, which is financed from the Capital Investment Fund of AP Vojvodina with 1.4 billion dinars, will be finished by the end of 2010, while the Institute in Kamenica will also get state-of-the-arts equipment prior to end of 2011.
- Kamenica 2 is a significant project, thanks to which quality treatment in this institution will be available to much larger number of patients. Kamenica 2 will have up-to-date medical equipment, which will put it in the class of the most modern health centers in this part of Europe. Preconditions will be created for heart transplantation, and it will also be one of the most modern centers for lung cancer treatment in southeast Europe. This project will provide much better conditions for treatment of our patients and, what is the most important, it will save hundreds of thousands of lives in the years to come - said Bojan Pajtic, the Prime Minister of Vojvodina, who visited Kamenica 2 on Friday.
Nada Cemerlic-Adjic, the Director of the Cardiovascular Institute of Vojvodina, Prof. Dr. Milan Antonic, the Director of the Institute for Lung Diseases, and the employees at this medical institution have expressed a great satisfaction with this project, which is of big significance for the whole Province.
Director Cemerlic Adjic has expressed gratitude to the Government of Vojvodina for understanding for the realization of this project, pointing out that shortening of the waiting list for patients in the field of cardiac surgery, which will be possible with Kamenica 2, is an especially significant moment for our province and whole Serbia, as well as an opportunity for an important increase in the number of open heart surgeries.
