- Israeli company Green Orli brought 850,000 EUR worth of equipment to Svilajnac on Saturday (March 13, 2010) for production of spice herbs at 10 ha of land, which will start this month - said Deputy Mayor Predrag Milanoviæ.
- The equipment includes watering systems, greenhouses and other staff, and the company's intention is to produce spice herbs and certain types of lettuces - Milanoviæ explained.
Concerning the fact that everything will be done mainly manually, people in Svilajnac expect Green Orli to employ large number of workers. The company intends to expand production to about 100 ha in the future and, thus, make Svilajnac the center for production of spice herbs and vegetables in Serbia.
- There is no organized production of spice herbs in Serbia - people in Svilajnac claim.
The Town Hall of Svilajnac made the decision on cooperation with Green Orli
in October 2009.
