The first human heart valve transplantation surgery in Serbia was done in the Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases in Sremska Kamenica on Saturday (March 13, 2010) on a 35-year-old patient from Novi Sad.

This complicated surgery was done by Prof. Dr. Afksendios Kalangos from the University hospital in Geneva, with the assistance of the Institute's surgeons and staff.
