Car battery factory in Sombor presented new car battery White Horse in June 2009. White Horse's calcium batteries are the only batteries in the market with both positive and negative grates with frame and radial design. The batteries are designed to work according to "install and forget about it" principle. White Horse has 20% larger starting power, its price is 15% higher than the price of a classical car battery, and it is intended for new vehicles that need additional energy. This car battery is hermetically closed, which makes it safe and environmentally acceptable. It is quick to charge and has longer period of life.
INNOVATION
The business policy of Sabac-based concern Farmakom MB is focused on constant improvement of operations through development of new products, introduction of new technologies and achievement of top quality. In 2009, one of the development projects of a member of the concern - Car battery factory Sombor, concerned organization of production of new type of lead starter batteries for modern vehicles with special demands in Ca/Ca technology. The new brand got a new name – White Horse.
The project represents an innovation when compared to the existing technology because the new type of batteries is complete without maintenance, which makes it possible for the user to install the product and forget about its maintenance during the exploitation. Good starting capacity provides enough energy for modern vehicles with additional equipment.
White Horse has significantly improved the position of the company in the market because this modern type of batteries met the expectations of even the most demanding customers. Expansion of the assortment of products made it possible for the company to position itself in the market better than its competition.
The project is conceived in the way not to present a copy of existing technologies of production of this type of batteries, but an original technology that guarantees higher quality through longer period of exploitation and better resistance to high temperatures.
SOCIAL UTILITY
White Horse has achieved positive social results in its area through creation of new jobs that are related to the assembly-line production of the new product. Also, the project has achieved commercial results by using the renewable technology with minimum harmful effect on ecology in its environment. The project demonstrates the potential for growth and success of the company, which leads to harmonization with socially useful profile. In that way, the company confirms that altruism is compatible with commercial success.
COMMERCIAL SUCCESS
The project has achieved a commercial success with great chances for that success to become even bigger in the following period. By organizing the production of new type of batteries that represents the top of the tops in modern technology, the company proved that it is able to be better than the competition and one of the best in both local and global market in its domain.
Car battery factory Sombor exports about 70% of its products, and it intends to continue its strong export expansion in 2010. The plan includes opening of branch offices around the globe and cooperation with foreign partners.
Sombor-based factory, which exports its products to 509 countries worldwide, is the leader in Serbian market with the share of about 80%. About 1.5m car batteries were delivered in 2009, while total incomes exceed EUR 50m. Due to high demand, the unit works in three shifts, while monthly production reaches up to 250,000 car batteries.
FAS plans to produce traction batteries in 2010 for all uninterrupted power supply systems such as post offices, telecommunication facilities, power supply companies, computer centers, etc. The assembly-line production of these batteries will start in mid-2010 and it is important to point out that no company in Serbia or in this part of Southeast Europe produces them.
The selection for 2010 Aurea award is backed by insurance company Wiener Städtische.
