The spring automobile show that was supposed to take place between March 18 and 28 in Zagreb has been cancelled due to catastrophic drop in sales in domestic automobile market.
Although the administration of Zagreb Auto Show 2010 lowered the rents, the event is cancelled, and Croatian media write today (February 8, 2010) that that is another consequence of the global economic crisis.
By the way, Croats mainly postpone purchase of new automobiles for some better times because of the crisis, so that the market is experiencing a real collapse.
Only 2,601 new vehicles were sold in January 2010, which is 37.5% less than in January 2009. During 2009, total of 44,891 vehicles were sold in Croatia, 49.1% less than in 2008.
The sales in Croatia dropped more than in certain European countries. Some European countries, including Germany and France, introduced the stimuli for purchase of new automobiles to protect their own automotive industries.
