
The Governor of the National Bank of Serbia (NBS), Radovan Jelašić, said
that the approval of loans to small and mid-sized enterprises from 250m EUR
worth of credit line of the European Investment Bank (EIB) would start in the
second half of October.
He said at the meeting of “Erenet”, the scientific network for small and
mid-sized enterprises, that the loans would be approved by eight banks and that
the maximum repayment period amounted to 15 years, and he expressed the
expectation that the credit line would be used in very short time.
Jelašić said that small and mid-sized enterprises must adapt to the new
terms in the market and get ready for the period after the crisis.
- Loans are only support, and not a mid-term or a long-term solution for
better operations – the Governor estimated.
At the meeting of "Erenet", the network that gathers around 100
universities, institutes and experts from central and east Europe, which was
held in the premises of Belgrade’s Institute of Economic Sciences, development
of small and mid-sized enterprises and improvement of cooperation in education
in that field were the main discussion topics.
