Company "Cisco" announced today (September 10, 2009) that it was developing the solution for digital video connection for cable providers "Serbia Broadband" (SBB) in Serbia and "Telemach" in Slovenia in order to offer rich, interactive media experience to the users of these networks.

- Starting November 2009, the users will be able to access video materials of high resolution (HD), while the whole series of interactive services, such as real-time video "on demand" (VoD), digital video recording (DVR), games, live news, and weather information, will be introduced later - "Cisco" announced.

Since the users are asking for more social, personal and interactive experiences with greater possibility of mobility and control, SBB is developing its network in medianet – IP net of the next generation, which is adapted to the media rich with contents.

By means of "Cisco" medianet technology, SBB will incorporate information on the media types into the whole infrastructure of its networks. This step will enable greater flexibility and scalability, as well as dynamic adaptation of distribution of contents to all forms of media.

Dragan Šolak, the President of the Administrative Board of companies "Serbia Broadband" (SBB) and "Telemach", said on the occasion of that cooperation that the adaptation of the network infrastructure had come as the result of the users' need for digital video experiences that were more social and interactive, as well as that the vision of company "Cisco" - Connected Life, perfectly matched the strategy of those companies to provide unique experience to their users through digital media of the next generation.

The Vice President of company "Cisco", Duncan Mitchel, said that medianet represented the future in the sphere of cable transfer of contents and applications, as well as that, by selecting "Cisco" medianet technology for the first presentation of video services to the users in Southeast Europe, cable provider "Serbia Broadband" had strengthened its progress towards provision of quality services.
