Construction of the long-expected health center in Kaluđerica should commence in mid-October. According to the words of Dragana Jovanović, the Secretary of Health Care, all conditions have finally been created and all papers have been obtained, so that everything is ready for the construction to start.
- Ongoing tender for selection of the contractor should be closed soon. The health center in Kaluđerica will be built according to all European standards, and it will have all the necessary medical wards -
said Dr. Jovanović.
The Chairman of the Assembly of the city borough of Grocka, Goran
Pekarski, pointed out that construction of new health center was necessary because the old clinic was in very bad condition.
- That is a hut at about 150 square meters, about 10 square meters of which are occupied by the general-practitioner ward. There are, also, pediatrics ward, pharmacy, gynecology ward, none of which can be used.
We are currently examining facilities where we intend to move existing wards. We have found two locations. The first is a private house allotted by the owners to be used as a clinic and, possibly, laboratory. The second is the local community's hall, which we will try to reorganize and prepare for certain wards - said Pekarski.
He added that relocation of wards was necessary in order for the crowds in health centers in Grocka and Vinča to be avoided. According to the words of Pekarski, the old clinic, that is, the hut, will be torn down.
- Construction of new clinic has been in the pipeline for 20 years. Some works commenced about 15 years ago, and one part of the hospital was built, but then the works were discontinued, so that now even that part should be torn down -
said the Chairman of the Assembly of the borough of Grocka.
Four-level building
As Goran Pekarski explained, the new facility will be built on four levels, with low ground-floor and two storeys, at about 2,000 square meters, and it should be finished in one year. In addition to all necessary medical wards, it will also have a fire exit, parking lot, as well as appropriate entrance for people with disabilities.
