On Friday (July 3rd, 2009), the Anti-Corruption Agency's Board appointed graduate lawyer Zorana Markoviæ as the Director of the Agency and Vladimir Jankoviæ as her deputy.
- The two of them were appointed at the meeting of the Board, at the public competition, and their mandates last for five years - said Èedomir Èupiæ, the President of the Agency's Board. Zorana Markoviæ has worked in the government administrative organs, as well as in international and local non-government organizations, and she is, currently, the Deputy Director in company "Invest
vertikala konsultant". Vladimir Jankoviæ was on various positions in public pension system in the period 1984-2008.
Èupiæ said that the selection of the Director and the Deputy Director was good start for the work of the Agency, which should be put in operation on January 1st, 2010.
- We hope that we have chosen experienced people with moral dignity who will be doing their jobs properly and make it possible for the Agency to fight corruption in accordance with the Law - said Èupiæ.
He said that Ms. Markoviæ was expert for human rights, that she had specialized in the USA, as well as that she had had "clean and brilliant career" so far. The Anti-Corruption Agency will be controlling financial reports of the political parties starting from January 1st, 2010 when the Law should be put in effect.
