- Number of employees in the administration and accompanying services of company "U.S.
Steel Serbia" will be cut by 150 - 250 - Nemanja Brković, the Communications Manager in that company, told Beta agency.
Brković added that the structure of employees in the company had been analysed and that they all believe that the dismissal of workers was "necessary step" towards creation of efficient balance between the number of people employed in the administration and production in Smederevo-based forge and its branch company in Šabac.
The company has decided to carry out "business reorganization" in order to become efficient and competitor to large manufacturers in "highly demanding global steel market".
- The employees who are declared as surplus manpower will be laid off and severance pays will be paid to them - said Brković.
He pointed out that the company had informed the representative trade unions in the company, government officials and the mayors of Smederevo and Šabac about the reduction of number of employees.
