
The licenses for introduction of wireless telephony and Internet in CDMA technology in Serbia were issued today (May 19, 2009) to "Telekom Srbija" and Belgrade-based company "Media works".
The license reached the price of 540,000 EUR at the auction, which is 20,000 EUR more than the starting auction price.
"Telekom Srbija" is the company whose majority owner is Public Company "PTT Srbija", while the minority partner is Greek OTE, whereas the owner of "Media works" is Dutch holding "Greenhouse
ttelecomunications".
The participants in the auction organized by the Republic Telecommunications Agency (Ratel) were: Cable-Distributive System (KDS) "Novi Sad" and "Digi sat", of which owner is Romanian RCS and
RDS.
CDMA technology is suitable for sparsely populated rural areas where laying of telephone cables is not feasible.
