Automobile concern "Daimler" is searching for location for construction of the first factory of automobiles of make "mercedes" in east Europe, but the spokesperson of the concern did not want to give comment to German issue of business newspaper "Financial Times" on the announcement that that giant intended to have the factory built in Serbia.

Serbia wants to attract German automobile manufacturers, "Financial Times" explains and adds that Serbian Minister of Economy, Mlađan Dinkić, said that companies "Daimler" and "Volkswagen" had been offered 75m EUR from the national budget if they invested 300m EUR in construction of the automobile factory in Serbia.

Stuttgart-based automobile concern is currently searching for the location for construction of the first factory of automobiles of make "mercedes" in east Europe and it was announced that the decision would be made in the first half of year 2008.

So far, the opinion was that Serbia's chances were small and that the favorites were Poland and Romania. But, on the other hand, Dinkić announced that Serbia would allot financial aid in amount of 100m EUR to the financiers for every investment worth 500m EUR and pointed out that the offer was on only for those who expressed their interest first.
