'Toyota' is still the greatest car seller in the world
Japanese car maker "Toyota" has remained in the first half of the year, the position of the world's largest seller of vehicles in front of the German "Volkswagen"-a (VW), which came to the second position by suppressing American "General Motors' (GM), which has recently been struggling with the scandal of mass withdrawal of vehicles.
In the last six months up to June, 'Toyota' sold 5.09 million vehicles, 4% more per annum, with growth of sales in the domestic market and the rest of Asia, as well as in the United States and Europe.
Sales in Japan was strong at the beginning of the year, since the buyers rushed to purchase the vehicles ahead of the entry into force of the new tax from April 1. Sales in China rose 12%, in Europe 8%, and 5% in the United States.
VW sold 4.97 million cars in the first half of the year, edging out GM, which sold 4.92 million vehicles. "Toyota" ranked first even last year among the biggest sellers, with record annual sales of 9.98 million vehicles. The company believes that this year it will exceed 10 million units.
GM was the world's largest seller of vehicles for seven years, before it "gave the title" to the company "Toyota" in 2008. IIt briefly returned to the top spot in 2011, when the production of "Toyota" was affected by the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
