Putin to visit Belgrade on 19th October
(Vladimir Putin) Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin will visit Belgrade on 19th October,, in the eve of the 70th anniversary celebration of Belgrade’s liberation after World War II, Belgrade daily "Novosti" reported.
According to sources of the daily press the first man of Kremlin has already confirmed his visit to Serbia and the attendance at the central jubilee anniversary celebration of Belgrade’s offensive.
The meeting of Russian statesman with Belgrade officials was arranged during the recent visit of Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic to Moscow. On that occasion, in a Moscow villa surrounded with conifers, Putin and Vucic discussed crucial political and economic issues, and scheduled a new meeting.
As it is expected, Putin will hold a meeting with his Serbian counterpart Tomislav Nikolic while in Belgrade.
The official arrival of the Russian President is an opportunity for the political leaders to "seal" economic projects of two countries, focusing on the South Stream gas pipeline construction.
Putin’s "predecessor" was Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov who visited Belgrade on16 June and laid wreaths at the monument of liberators of Belgrade in World War II.
The Russian leader was in Belgrade previously on 23 March 2011, when he met with then President Boris Tadić, and visited the Serbian National Assembly, the Red Star football club's stadium and Orthodox temple in Belgrade dedicated to St. Sava.
