Sports and congress center on banks of the gold-bearing river Pek - Kucevo seeks investor to build multifunctional complex

Thanks to precious metals, gold and silver, the area of Kucevo and its surroundings is famous since ancient times, and it may soon become a significant destination for sports and congress tourism. Hotels, sports courts and a city park are planned to built on the banks of the gold-bearing river Pek.

- An idea of the municipality of Kucevo is to keep developing sports. We already have a number of athletes practicing here because we offer good conditions - a sports arena, the football stadium FC Zvizd, Rudnik hotel with a swimming pool, etc. Our wish is to create even better conditions for sports as well as congress tourism. A draft land-utilization plan for a sports and congress center with a city park, stretching alongside the Pek river, is currently on public display. We want to rent a land to a potential investor for the period of 99 years – Dusan Todorovic, member of the City Council of Kucevo, says for eKapija.

The complex should comprise a park for rest and recreation, situated next to the Pek. There are three possible locations for the construction of hotels with swimming pools and a gym, spanning between 1,500 and 3,500 square meters. As our interlocutor stresses, it is also possible to build only one bigger hotel if the interested investor decides so.

- The plan is to build swimming pools, basketball courts, and tennis clay and grass courts - says our interlocutor.

Todorovic says that the construction of accommodation capacities will help the municipality develop congress tourism as well.

- Kucevo is also very interesting for congress tourism because Belgrade is only 137 km away, and there are numerous tourist attractions to visit in this area.

According to the general land-utilization plan, the construction of a promenade 6 to 7 kilometers long alongside the Pek river and a bicycle trail is also in the pipeline.
