Government of Serbia to provide €2m for construction of ski lifts on Kopaonik mountain, Genex to invest €1.5m, privatization of hotel

Mlađan Dinkić, Republic Minister of Finance, announced that the Government of Serbia would set aside €2m for construction of 2 new four-seat ski, as well as for relocation and renovation of one existing ski lift on Kopaonik mountain. Genex Group will take part in financing with €1.5m, whereas another €0.5m will be invested in procurement of new snow canons and other machines.

The privatization of hotel capacities on Kopaonik mountain is also about to start. Firstly, JAT Suites will be separated through process for restructuring of JAT Airways. The cleaning of the most popular ski track on Kopaonik mountain, "Krčmar", is underway. This track is covered with cassette bombs and is out of use since the bombardment in 1999. This project will require €2.5m from the foreign donations.

For improvement of infrastructure and offer of Kopaonik mountain, the Ministry of Defense of Serbia and Montenegro gave agreement that the military airport Lađevci be opened for commercial purposes, which will also contribute to easier and quicker arrival of tourists on this tourist destination.
