Farmers` Ethanol plans construction of bioethanol factory in Smederevo - investment worth 135m USD
- US company Farmers` Ethanol plans to invest 135m USD in construction of the factory of ecological fuel bioethanol in Smederevo - the company's representatives announced.
The spokesperson of Farmers` Ethanol in Serbia, Maja Fragner, said to the press that the construction of that unit would enable employment of 200 people in the factory and another 5,000 households in the production of raw materials for bioethanol.
- The representatives of Farmers` Ethanol signed the letter of intent with local self-government in Smederevo for realization of that project and now the memorandum is being prepared - said Ms. Fragner.
She said that the US company from Adamsville, Ohio, was present in Serbia for four years and that it had formed the team for central and east Europe in Belgrade.
Ethanol (ethyl-alcohol) is mixed with gasoline and used as a fuel for automobiles. Ethnol is obtained from cereals, sugar beet or potato and, according to the data provided by Serbian Ministry of Energy, millet and topinambur could also be used in production of ethanol in Serbia.
