The Minister of Energy, Petar Škundrić, said on March 20th that Serbia and Croatia were interested in continuing and improving cooperation in the energy sector.

Škundrić said at the press conference in the Government of Serbia, which followed the mini energy forum, that Serbia and Croatia were eager for realization of PanEuropean oil pipeline, and he added that both countries had emphasized the significance of mutual connection by gas pipelines for the sake of improvement of energy safety.

The Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Economy, Labor and Entrepreneurship of Croatia, Damir Polančec, pointed out that some very important information that concerned energy sector had been exchanged at yesterday’s forum and that several significant issues related to improvement of cooperation between Serbia and Croatia had been raised.

Polančec pointed out that one of those issues was the cooperation in retail trade and sale of products of oil companies "NIS" and "INA", as well as greater cooperation between NIS and Croatian oil transportation company "JANAF".

He reminded that 2.4m tons of oil had been transported through Croatian transportation system in 2008 for the needs of Serbia.

- The new opportunities for cooperation are created, such as keeping of commercial and strategic oil supply and cooperation in realization of the joint project for construction of PanEuropean oil pipeline – Polančec explained.

According to his words, Serbian gas company "Srbijagas" is interested in the project that concerns petroleum gas on Croatian island of Krka, and he added that both countries were interested in participation in the investment projects in power supply sector, as well as in joint procurement of electric power in European stock exchanges.

The Minister of Economy of Croatia said that underground gas storage “Banatski Dvor” had also been mentioned at the energy forum, and he pointed out that Croatian companies may be competitive on the tender that would be announced for expansion of that storage.
