"Strauss" to buy businesses of "Doncafe" in the region

- Israeli group "Strauss" has announced that it arranged purchase of businesses of Italian company "Doncafe" in Albania, in Kosovo and in Macedonia for 7.5m EUR - "Strauss Adriatic" confirmed.

"Strauss Adriatic", which took over Serbian company for coffee processing and distribution "Doncafe" in 2005, is in charge of the development of "Strauss" group on the territory of former Yugoslavia.

Last year, the operations of "Doncafe" in Albania, Macedonia and in Kosovo brought incomes in amount of 4.5m EUR, mainly from espresso and other special coffee beverages.

According to the announcement given by "Strauss", the second largest Israeli food company, on the stock exchange in Tel Aviv, the operations on these three market are profitable.

"Strauss" will finance the takeover from its own sources. That company does not plan larger investments because the takeover should take place in the near future.

"Strauss" is the market leader in the coffee sector in central and east Europe. It is the second largest coffee manufacturer in Brasil and it is the seventh in the world in consumption of raw coffee.
