Minister of Public Administration Ana Brnabic signed a Memorandum of Understanding with her Slovenian colleague Boris Koprivnikar on Tuesday, January 17, 2017, in Ljubljana, based on which Slovenia will help Serbia implement electronic government. For the citizens, this means the removal of counters, as well as an additional stimulation to the development of entrepreneurship.

Brnabic pointed out that she expected that, as a result of the signing of the document and the visit of the Serbian delegation to Slovenia, electronic payment would finally be implemented in Serbia, enabling both the citizens and the commercial sector to pay for the Government services by pay cards through eGovernment.

– I hope that we will soon celebrate this success together. We want to become a country which uses eGovernment in order to make life easier for its citizens and to stimulate the development of entrepreneurship – Brnabic said to the press following the signing of the Memorandum.

The minister pointed out that data security was also important for Serbia, as well as the opening of data, and added that the country was prepared to learn from Slovenia in that segment, in which it had progressed much further than Serbia. Brnabic said that an open data portal would start operating in the next few weeks to that end.

– This is just the beginning and I expect that, following the visit, an action plan for our further cooperation will be prepared, in line with the Action Plan for the Implementation of the eGovernment Strategy we are currently working on – Brnabic emphasized.

The delegation of Serbia, aside from Brnabic, consists of representatives of the Directorate for eGovernment, Ministry of Finance, Treasury, Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, CCIS and the General Secretariat of the Government of Serbia.

Slovenian Minister of Public Administration Boris Koprivnikar pointed out that he saw the signing of the Memorandum as the beginning of an even deeper cooperation and stated that Serbia and Slovenia had potential to develop the public administration of both countries together, but also to make their respective societies more productive.

– We have good ideas, quality people with knowledge and technology, and if we both countries make an effort towards the development, we will be much more successful together. This is why I hope that we will deepen and intensify the cooperation even further – Koprivnikar said.
