NBS issues operating license to Bank of China Srbija

Bank of China has acquired a license for operating in Serbia from the National bank of Serbia (NBS), it was said at NBS for Beta yesterday.

– The National Bank of Serbia, as per request by the founder – Bank of China Hungary Close Ltd. from Budapest, established that all requirements had been fulfilled and issued an operating license to the bank which will operate under the name of Bank of China Srbija, akcionarsko drustvo, Beograd – NBS says.

As they add, the bank registered as a business entity at the Business Registers Agency, following the acquirement of the permit and all prescribed approvals by NBS. This is the first Chinese bank to operate in Serbia.


The founder of the Serbian bank is Bank of China Hungary Close Ltd. from Hungary, owned by the Chinese Bank of China Ltd, one of the top five banks in the world based on the value of market transactions. The bank in Serbia, as planned, will be the Chinese bank's central for the Balkans and East and West Europe.

According to earlier announcements, the bank in Serbia should start operating on January 20.
