Italian footwear factory to open in Sremska Mitrovica in fall of 2017 – Opportunity for 600 workers
The factory in question is East West, which has already been talked about in the media recently.
Mayor Sanader expects that the agreement on the purchase of land in the North Industrial Zone will be signed in the first day of the upcoming year.
The management of the Italian company is planning to employ up to 600 people in the new facility, and the company's representatives have already negotiated with the National Employment Service of Sremska Mitrovica.
– After Christmas, all interested workers will start being tested. The footwear factory will need a large number of workers, with or without work experience, for sewing, tailoring and cutting jobs. Everyone interested can address their employment counselor, and for those coming from the neighboring places, transport to the facility will probably be organized – says Natasa Radmanovic of the National Employment Service in Sremska Mitrovica.
The owner East West is Enrico Rossi, who is already present in Serbia through Progetti d.o.o. (owned by Enrico and his brother Romano Rossi), which operates in several Serbian cities (Sombor, Vrsac, Vladimirci...). Progetti is a large Serbian exporter of footwear uppers and finished footwear, and the company's website lists Gucci, Burberry and Prada among the company's clients.
It is expected that the training of the workers who should get employed in Sremska Mitrovica will be organized in the facility in Vladimirci.
The city administration of Sremska Mitrovica says for eKapija that more details about the new facility will be available after the purchase of the land.
