The implementation of the new Rulebook on VAT, which should have come into effect on January 1, 2017, has been postponed by a year, the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia (CCIS) reported.

– Having taken into consideration complaints by businessmen, at the initiative of and in agreement with the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia, the Ministry of Finance has decided to start implementing this rulebook on January 1, 2018. The CCIS will, in cooperation with the Ministry, continue to work on amending the shortcomings pointed to by professionals and the commercial sector in order to reach the best solutions in this area. We are grateful to the Ministry of Finance for a good and constructive cooperation so far – stated Marko Cadez, president of the CCIS.

Let us remind that the key complaint by the commercial sector pertains to the prescribed obligation of keeping much more wide-encompassing records than before and the fact that companies are supposed to fill out and submit questionnaires with over 150 items, requiring software adjustments, employment of additional workers and bigger expenses.
