The opening of the Aster Textile factory within the former Ei Holding in Nis is expected to take place on October 19, says member of the City Council in charge of economy and environmental protection, Mihajlo Zdravkovic, and adds that the Turkish investor will employ 2,000 people of Nis in the factory.

Around 300 citizens of Nis currently work at Aster Textile, and the factory will have 500 employees by the end of the year.

Zdravkovic says that a contract with a large automotive company on the construction of their factory across from the Penitentiary-Correctional Facility will be signed soon. The factory should employ 2,200 people of Nis.

– Taking into consideration the Memorandum signed a few months ago with IMI, which plans to employ 1,250 people, the number of announced employments is considerable – he says.

– We are near to closing the negotiations with three large electronics companies. If they also choose Nis, I believe that the unemployment in the city will be significantly reduced and that our competitiveness will increase, and with it the standard of workers as well. Nevertheless, it all takes a little more time and patience, and our citizens, especially those younger ones, are running out of it – he adds.
