At the gate of the former Nitex in Nis, there is no longer a Benetton sign. In its place is a sign of the Olimpias Group, and, as council member Mihajlo Zdravkovic says, it is this company that is in charge of the entire production of the Italian giant.

The Olimpias Group is a member of the Benetton Group and it has been present in Nis practically since the moment the Italian company privatized Nitex. It had its own facilities and now, as Zdravkovic says, it has taken over the entire business by the decision of the management of Benetton.

– In essence, nothing has changed. Benetton is still there, but now all the subcontractors are working under Olimpias, while Olimpias is the sole subcontractor of Benetton – Zdravkovic says.

He clarifies that ownership relations haven't changed. Instead, Benetton has changed its operating policy for branding purposes. As Zdravkovic says, the Italian giant has already notified all city and state officials and institutions of the decision.

Let us remind that Benetton bought the Nis-based textile factory Nitex for EUR 3 million in May 2011. According to the agreement, Benetton was supposed to get several thousand euros worth of subsidies for each new employee.
